Our approach to relationship coaching draws from psychotherapy, relationship systems coaching, and emotional wisdom. Whether working with couples or families, here are some of the principles that guide our work: We assume that a core aspect of human life is psychological and spiritual growth—that an essential part of being alive is stretching ourselves and changing. We recognize that intimate relationship is a rich arena for growth. We acknowledge relationship as a living system that is naturally trying to grow and change. From this perspective, the coaching becomes as much about the life of the relationship as it is about the individuals. You, the individuals in the relationship, become allies in fostering the aliveness and wholeness of the relationship, rather than competing with each other to get your needs met. We do not treat conflict in the relationship as a problem, but rather as an opportunity for something new and more alive to emerge. This is a courageous way to live in relationship, because it is not about keeping the status quo, but about adventure and growth. The focus of the coaching is primarily on helping you create the atmosphere or energy that you want in your relationship. The details, agreements and ways that you interact and live together come out of this atmosphere you create. The attitudes of commitment, respect, curiosity, listening, playfulness and heart are central to the work we will do together. Our approach is never about patching things up. It's a holistic approach to creating the ground for healthy relationship. We help you remember what is compelling to you about each other, and what is compelling about your relationship, and build on that. And in the process of our work together, you will learn new skills that you can use for the rest of your life in all your relationships. Call us for a free consultation.
